PREFACE

With the composition of this work, I have thought of satisfying a long-felt need. Whether I have succeeded in this will have to learn the time. A scientific or learned work is not my writing; it contains only a faithful note of words which I collected during my almost four-year stay at Kotta Kadja (Groot Aceh) using the data provided to me by competent Atjehers.

If I am not mistaken, then a work like this in the field of Atjehsclie language, with the exception of 200 words, is published by the Bataviasch Society of Arts and Sciences, the firstfruits.
